Where Do I Fit In?

Whatever your background, experience or ambitions may be, it is more than likely there’s a role for you here at First Great Western.

To give you a better idea as to where you’ll best fit in to our organisation, we’ve structured jobs into three main categories:

  • Customer Services
  • Business Support
  • Operational

As you might expect, a Customer Services role involves providing a service directly to our customers, whether they’re at one of our stations or on board one of our trains.

Working in an Operational role means you’ll have a direct impact on the day-to-day running of our business. Most of these roles are “behind-the-scenes” and can involve everything from maintaining vehicles and equipment, to co-ordinating train crew, routing trains and monitoring their movements.

Business Support roles keep our whole organisation moving forward. Departments like Finance, HR, Marketing and IT provide support to every colleague, indirectly but vitally enabling them to do their jobs properly.
