You could say we’re realists and optimists at one and the same time.
We know that running a business that involves getting millions of people to hundreds of destinations over thousands of miles of track is always going to be challenging, but it’s that challenge that gets us out of bed in the mornings. Looking back on a typical week (if only there was such a thing!) and forward to next, it’s the good bits we remember, the opportunities we look forward to.
Running a railway and taking care of customers and their safety is a serious business. We don’t have time for jargon or spin; but we’ll always make time for new ideas, the people who have them, and for each other. We treat people as grown-ups, and get treated the same way by our colleagues and managers.
It all means that working for First Great Western may not be for everyone. But for us, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
